Sustainability & CSR
Explore our approach to sustainability and social responsibility, where ethical growth and environmental care go hand in hand.
CSR
Our sustainability journey begins 12 years ago, our corporate social responsibility is aligned with our headquarter’ s concept which put our Management Philosophy into practice - “explore products of value to society” and ensuring “the eternal growth of our group.”
The concept of the Management Philosophy is in line with our aspiration for addressing social issues and contributing to building a sustainable society.
In 2022, Mitsui Kinzoku Group established "We promote the well-being of the world through a spirit of exploration and diverse technologies" as our Purpose.
While having the newly defined Purpose as a starting point, MCF is committed to promoting sustainability, firmly guided by the Basic Sustainability Policy so that each and every executive and employee of MCF can exercise their responsibility toward stakeholders.
Mitsui Kinzoku’s Basic Sustainability Policy
MCF CSR activities and our business activities are one and the same. We are adopting the Mitsui Kinzoku’s Basic Sustainability Policy as our basis to run our business activities. These activities are executed in line with our group Management Philosophy and Code of Conduct and by taking full advantage of Material Intelligence

Management System
Based on the management organization, the management system was introduced. Under the system, the PDCA cycle is performed annually.
Each subcommittee and committee in charge conducts routine check and assessments every one to three years to review concerns and risks. For identified risks, a plan for improvement is developed and a further assessment is made. The CSR Committee reports annual activities at its meeting, assesses these activities, and discusses how to improve them.
The Top Management is responsible for assessing overall CSR activities and the CSR management system on a regular basis. It also reviews and approves CSR reporting, which summarize the objectives, action plans, and achievements.
Labour, Human Rights
MCF is committing to respecting human rights.
Based on this recognition, MCF addresses this issue according to its Human Rights Policy in reference to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
We have identified stakeholders that are highly likely to be affected by the business activities of MCF and its supply chains and the associated human rights risks, and formulated the Human Rights Standards as specific guidelines for implementing measures to address the risks identified.
We assess human rights risks associated with the company’s business activities, and define the employees, supply chains and local communities involved in the manufacturing business as stakeholders that can be particularly affected by our business activities and a high-priority target to address. Also, we have specified the human rights risk factors unique to or characteristic of the company, including forced labor and child labor. In order to mitigate these risks, we established a management system to monitoring and control its implementation.
Health and Safety
MCF holds that ensuring occupational health and safety in business operations is essential for implementing integrated thinking management based on the Group’s Purpose. We provide a safe worksite environment not only for our employees but also for cooperative companies, contractors, and visitors to plants.
We are also improving occupational health and safety initiatives, including establishment ISO45001 Management System implementation of initiatives, and reinforcing measures in line with the MCF human resources system.
MCF is committed to creating a safe and comfortable work environment. This is based on our Policy on Health and Safety, in which it states that “ensuring the health and safety of all people working MCF is the most important element for conducting business activities.” We also believe that the development of a company culture that places health and safety first will lead to increasing productivity and reducing operational and business risks, and even to strengthening our relationship of trust with employees and solidifying our business foundation in the medium to long term. The Basic Policy on Health and Safety, along with KPIs and initiatives, covers all employees working in the Group, including those of cooperative companies and contractors.
Environment
MCF recognizes the negative environmental impact of its operations as a great business risk and strives to reduce it. To achieve carbon neutrality and a circular economy, we are taking on new challenges, while making detailed improvements in each operation.
MCF operates under ISO 14001 and managing director serves as the person responsible for managing environment, and who makes sure that the required actions are being reliably executed. In line with Group’s direction in response to the Paris Agreement as well as the expansion of ESG investment, we continually improve our system and strengthen our efforts to address environmental issues. We have assessed the negative impacts of our business activities on stakeholders in our value chains and set targets for activities with significant impacts, on which we will focus our efforts to reduce their environmental footprint. We are incorporating the targets set in the Environmental Action Plan into the plans of each of and promoting activities to achieve them.
MCF considers climate change as an important change in our external environment which would affect the continuity of our business. As we have energy-intensive operations such as electrolytic copper foil, we are well aware of the impacts of energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from business activities on climate change. In order to reduce these impacts, we have identified climate change-related issues as the materiality, including reduction of GHG emissions and energy management, and make efforts to accomplish them. We are inline with Group who has formulated a response to climate change as a key strategy in enhancing the Group's environmental and social value.

MCF is committed to conduct business in an honest and professional manner with high integrity with all our business associates and stakeholders.
We have a zero-tolerance stance to any form of bribery or corruption which we have communicated to relevant stakeholders. We prohibit our Employees, Directors and Business Associates from soliciting, receiving, procuring, offering, or giving bribes in any form, regardless of whether the conduct is accepted business practice.
